I left this island I love to see what the mountains knew, and I came back missing the water, missing the shore, my body ached for the tides and yearned for that magical time of dawn and dusk, sun rising and setting over the ocean. Vancouver Island is my home, and though I grew up here, it feels as though I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the wonders this land holds.
I have been collecting beach treasures since I was small, and forest treasures, feathers, and whatever else piques my interest. Some of the crushed shells I am just now using were collected by me when I was about 8 years old.
I have always been an artist, I love to paint, create magical jewelry, weird things out of kelp, reusable sage wands, shamanic/ceremonial rattles, crystal wands, salves, teas, deodorant, roses for the bath, glacial clay masks…. and the list goes on and on, Beach-combing, walking along rivers and through forests is a form of meditation for me and I can lose myself just as easily there as I do in art or creation. I have a deep love and respect for the world around me, and most of the things I use in my work has been collected over the course of my life, though I am always adding new things to the mix as I find them.
Everything was gathered, designed, created, photographed, and filled with love and light by me.
